Life History of John Paul Pratt
John, was born to James Franklin Medearis, Jr and Kathryn Worsley, who used the pen name Kathryn Kay, on the evening of 4 Jul 1945 in Downey, California. I am a patrilineal descendant of Domingo Madeiras who immigrated to the Virginia Colony (now Virginia) about 1640 from Portugal. My mother's father Fred H. Worsley was of English and Swedish ancestry. His mother was from Mormon pioneer heritage, a descendant of Clarissa Hancock, sister of Levi Hancock of the seven presidents of the Seventy, as well as several other pioneer families.
My mother was raised as LDS in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah, where her best friends were from the families of the LDS Church leaders, including a daughter of President Joseph F. Smith. After one year at the U. of Utah, she moved to California where she attended UCLA, became a poetess, and eventually married Frank in 1941. He was not religious, but he was strong, handsome, and intelligent.
Frank and Kathryn had two sons, James Franklin III and John Paul. Frank returned from World War II with an injury from an explosion, and soon they were divorced. Kathryn and her two sons moved back to live with her parents in 1946, so John grew up in Salt Lake City.
In 1953 Kathryn met and married LeGrand Billeter Pratt, great-grandson of Parley P. Pratt, one of the original apostles of the LDS Church. John's name became John Paul Pratt and he spent the rest of his youth in Salt Lake City.
John was active in the LDS Church throughout his youth. When he read the Book of Mormon at age 14, he did not believe it. The story seemed too theatrical and unrealistic. He told God that the golden plates should be on display at the Pioneer Museum on Temple Square. He heard a voice respond in his mind that even that would not convince him because he would just claim that the plates had marks in an unknown language! The Spirit explained that what he really wanted was the translation which was in his hands! He knew that was true, and very soon the Spirit revealed to him that the book was indeed true, which he has believed ever since.
John was an eager student and he graduated at the top of his high school class. He obtained bachelor degrees in both Physics and Math at the University of Utah, being chosen as the Outstanding Student of Physics in 1968, graduating in the upper 1% of his 1969 class. He had served in an LDS mission in Southern Brazil from 1965-1967, serving in Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, for five months. He loved Brazil and studied Portuguese diligently all during his mission.
John met Ruth McOmber in 1969 and they were married in the Idaho Falls temple by her father, Calvin D. McOmber, Jr, on 14 Aug 1970, after John had finished one year of graduate school in physics at the U. of Utah. Her father was currently a patriarch and in the temple presidency. Ruth's mother, Frances Brodilova, was the first member of the LDS Church to be baptized in Czechoslovakia.
Immediately after their marriage, John and Ruth moved to Tucson, Arizona, where he spent six years gaining his PhD degree in astronomy from the University of Arizona in May 1976. He been both a teaching assistant and also research assistant, and thus graduated almost debt free. During that time, they had two children, John and Julie.
There were few jobs for astronomers in the USA, so most of John's colleagues went out of the country to teach. During that summer, the business world discovered that computer programmers should be paid more than secretaries, and John was able to start work as a programmer for the Eyring Research Institute for more money than he could have earned as an assistant professor of astronomy. Thus, he was happy that his entire dissertation had been a computer program modeling the interior of a star. They moved to Layton, Utah, where he worked at Hill Air Force Base, doing Minute Missile computer simulation. He also began a serious study of the Hebrew and Mayan calendars.
Their daughter Mary was born while they lived in Layton, after which they moved to Kaysville, Utah, where two more sons were born to them: Jared and Joseph. The contract for John's work ended in 1988, at which time they moved to Orem, Utah, where John obtained a 3-year research grant. During this time he began to discover and study sacred calendars, some of which had been hidden from the world throughout history. When the grant expired, he began to work for WordPerfect as a programmer. That company was sold to Novell, after which John worked in search and indexing. Later he worked for Cogito, then for Omniture, and finally he left there to work at Perfect Search.
John played table tennis in competitions from age 25 to age 70, being rated in the top 30 players in Utah for decades. He led a table tennis club in Pleasant Grove, Utah, from 2000-2009, while his family lived there and in both American Fork and Lindon, Utah. He has enjoyed playing chess most of his life.
In 2009 John was diagnosed with stage 4 leukemia, with a two-year life expectancy. He chose to forgo chemotherapy, but instead retired and moved to Duchesne, Utah. There he had a home built on their vacation lot. John felt that he needed to be away from the city to recover and yet Ruth needed to be near their grandchildren. This separation led to a divorce, leaving her free to remarry and stay in Orem. John recovered from leukemia by 2012.
In 2008 John began reading Denver Snuffer's work, and in 2014 he officially joined his group, which attempted to return to gospel practices as they were in the days of Joseph Smith. Then in May 2019 John learned of The Sealed Book, which claimed to be a translation by a Brazilian seer of the first part of the sealed portion of the Plates of Mormon. He believed it was true, but felt that each person should find out for himself. Then in prayer, the Spirit told him to post a positive book review on his website johnpratt.com. When he asked why, the response was, “Because no one else will.” He did so.
Then John felt prompted to write about multiple mortalities, which led to four articles in October 2019. Immediately afterward, the seer who had translated The Sealed Book, Mauricio Berger, invited him to speak at the first general conference of his church in November 2019. He asked John to explain about multiple probations. John flew to Brazil, and not only spoke, but also felt prompted to be baptized and confirmed a member of the fledgling church! After that, he was chosen to become an official witness of the gold plates. As soon as he saw them, he knew by the Spirit that they were authentic. He wrote an article describing his experience.
On 4 Apr 2020, John was confirmed to be an elder in the Church, and one week later, he opened an official church branch in Duchesne, Utah. He continued to post articles on his website supporting the Church and also over 100 articles about sacred calendars. He began secondinvitation.info to provide background information. On 21 Nov 2020 John was called by revelation during the general conference to be both First Counselor in the then forming First Presidency, as well as a Davidic servant to fight a “giant”, referring to the LDS Church. On the next day he was ordained to be a high priest after the order of Melchizedek, set apart in the presidency, and anointed to the Davidic calling.
“God has revealed to me the truthfulness of this work, that Mauricio is the chosen seer to bring it forth, and that The Sealed Book is authentic. The foundation of the Church of Christ has been relaid, which will continue into the Millennium. The United Order of Zion is functioning, and the gospel of the Kingdom of God is being broadcast to the world, testifying to all of the goodness of God!” (John Paul Pratt)
"The legacy of President John Paul Pratt will always remain among the Saints of the Second Invitation. The knowledge, wisdom and revelations through the Holy Spirit that he received will always serve as an inspiration to this covenant people, becoming powerful tools for the building of Zion."
“Brother Pratt you will always be with us, see you in Zion..."
Prophet President Maurício Artur Berger.

Fountains of Living Waters Society: In God's Timing
A visit to my homeland, Australia, in 2005, included a trip to our island state, Tasmania. During our travels, my husband and I drove to the Hartz Mountains National Park and, while there, walked to Lake Osborn which is a glacial lake. On the walk, there were a number of interpretative boards. I want to share with you the information that was on one of those boards, and the meaningful analogy it portrays for us today:
The lacy crystal of a snow flake is one of nature’s most delicate structures. Nature can transform these crystals into a giant landscape-shaping wedge of ice—a glacier. Ice is about as hard as the graphite in a common pencil. How, then, can it possibly gouge out the landscape?
The ice, like a stone mason, must have tools to shape the landscape. The tools of a glacier are the rocks embedded in its base. And, for the glacier, the ‘blow of the mason’s hammer’ has become the force of gravity acting on tons of dense ice. With these tools and the force behind them, glaciers can easily shape the landscape.
If you have ever seen snowflakes, you know how delicate they are. Perhaps we are just as delicate and vulnerable as the snowflakes, because we are completely dependent on the Lord God and His creation for our survival.
If, like the snowflakes, we are somewhat delicate and vulnerable, can we as men, women, and children make a difference in the “landscape” or, the world? As individuals and families, we can certainly be a blessing to others; we can change things for the better in our own neighborhoods, and even for much of the world. But, like the individual snowflakes that, together, can become snow, ice, and then glaciers, we see the power and the effectiveness that is in numbers. But forming that glacier can be a very slow process.
Since the 1830s the saints have hoped and prayed for Zion, but many along the way have become discouraged and even given up. Now, through the words of The Sealed Book and continuing revelation, we are blessed with the instructions that we need for the establishment of Zion. However, we are admonished to not become discouraged, nor to rush ahead of the Lord, but to be patient and wait on Him. (SBofM 4:66; Psalm 37:34; SBofM 5:34)
The changes to the landscape, caused by the glacier, are accomplished by the rocks carried along its base, and the force of gravity. Does that remind us of the refiner’s fire and the mason’s hammer at work in our own lives? (Jeremiah 23:29; Words of Moroni vs 5; 1Peter 1:7)
Just as the delicate snowflakes can eventually form a glacier that changes the landscape, we can fulfill our calling as we join and work together in Christ’s church. As a group of God’s people, we can share with the world the Good News of the Lord Jesus Christ—and change the “landscape”, thus assisting in the process of establishing Zion.
Our common cause is Zion! The power and effectiveness of sisters and brothers joining together in great faith, and becoming one in heart and purpose—for the bringing forth of Zion—can move mountains. It will change the “landscape”! Just like the snowflakes that create the glacier, each person, individually and together, has a part to play in assisting to bring about God’s Kingdom on earth. (SBofM 4:40-41)
To assist with this process, the Lord has brought forth the Fountains of Living Waters society—in order to bring strength to the women and also to families and, therefore, to the church. It is stated in recent revelation that this society should be small in the beginning and grow gradually. This slow numerical growth within the society will allow for a deepening spiritual maturity among the women as we pray and study both individually and as a group. The members in the Fountains of Living Waters society will be called upon to bring ministry to more women and families, especially within the church.
It is anticipated that at the November 2021 conference, Sister Simone Rodrigues, who was called through revelation, will be set apart as the president for Brazil. In addition, the two counsellors assisting the international president will be announced, also the secretary and assistant secretary; some regional leaders will also be announced.
Our Fountains of Living Waters society was counselled to move forward slowly. As we support each other and the church as a whole, let us remember the delicate snowflakes that eventually become the glacier—that changes the landscape! The work of Christ’s church, which now includes the Fountains of Living Waters society, is moving forward—in God’s perfect timing! Together, we are preparing for Zion, the glorious city of our God!
NOTE: Dear parents, I hope you will be able to share this analogy with your children. I also encourage you to help your children discover more about God’s awesome creation: snowflakes, snow, ice, and glaciers. And then share your hope for Zion—and the role of your children in this awesome calling. (SBofM 5:40)

Morning Manna: The battle against doubt and fear
Reading for today: RDC6:16 (D&C 6:34-36 LDS)
Concerning: The battle against doubt and fear
“16a Therefore fear not, little flock, do good, let earth and hell combine against you, for if ye are built upon my Rock, they can not prevail. 16b Behold, I do not condemn you, go your ways and sin no more: perform with soberness the work which I have commanded you; look unto me in every thought, doubt not, fear not:”
Satan teaches mankind that doubt is the “safe” path for approaching the unknown, but he is a liar and the father of lies. He tells people this is the safe path because he knows that the banishment of doubt and fear will open the door to salvation.
The counsel to “be believing” does not mean to believe everything that we are told, only that we must be READY to believe, as opposed to being READY to doubt. The path to belief requires active effort not passive absorption. It requires, first, prayer and humility, followed by the question – Are there two or three witnesses to the truth of this thing? The witnesses should be examined to see if they are consistent, and whether they are actual witnesses to a thing and not merely opinions about something. God has promised to give two or three witnesses to his words.
In the current environment, there are many, many who have chosen the path of unbelief relative to the words coming from the formerly sealed plates of Mormon. There are several who testify to the claim that these plates were delivered by the hand of Moroni to Mauricio A. Burger in Brazil along with the necessary means to interpret by the power of God those plates determined by God to be brought forth “by and by” [Ether 2:1 (Ether 5:1 LDS)].
There are several who testify that those words thus brought forth are given of God, and so the threshold of two or three witnesses has been met regarding those words. The next step of active belief is to follow the Berean example: “(Acts 17:11) These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the Scriptures daily, whether those things were so. Will we be the “more noble” ones of this generation who are ready to believe and “search the scriptures”? Or are we ready only to check our traditions established by conference action in the past. If our traditions become the measure for “truth” then we have become the Sadducees and Pharisees who clamored for the blood of our Lord Jesus who came to liberate us from the bondage of human tradition and open the path to salvation.
When the Book of Mormon was published in 1830, there were those who could read that Book and RECOGNIZE the TRUTH there just as it is taught in the Bible. Others, seeing this overlap of truth chose, instead, to claim plagiarism and say, basically “well that must be where he got this teaching…” Satan has not changed his tactics in the past 200 years. Those who seek an excuse to reject the words received from the sacred pages of that sealed portion of Mormon’s plates are now willing to alledge the same lie when they see the overlap between the teachings in the pages of the sealed record and the revealed truths of the past and say “well that must be where he got it….” Or similar. Why? Because satan teaches that it is “safe” for us to DOUBT these truths. And teaches it is OK to “fear” to be “deceived by these words”
Beloved brethren, DOUBT IS NEVER SAFE AND FEAR IS NEVER OF GOD. So we are commanded: [Mormon 4:93 (Mormon 9:27 LDS)] "Doubt not, but be believing, and begin as in times of old, and come unto the Lord with all your heart, and work out your own salvation with fear and trembling before him.”
Holy Father in the Name of your Only Begotten Son, Jesus, our Lord and redeemer, we ask you to look upon us thy children this day and help us, Holy Father to banish from our hearts doubt and fear, but to walk in the faith of that truth which you have planted in our hearts that we may ever have cause to praise thee our God and our shepherd, for thou art worthy of all praise and honor and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Differences between Holy Spirit, Gift of the Holy Spirit, Gifts of the Spirit and Fruits of the Holy Spirit
It is essential to know the difference between Holy Spirit and Gift of the Holy Spirit, Gifts of the Holy Spirit and Fruits of the Holy Spirit, so that we may know how to correctly discern all and what each represents, so that as saints who fulfill all the word, we may fulfill all the will of Heaven.
Outlining the reflections;
1. Holy Spirit.
2. Gift of the Holy Spirit.
3. Gifts of the Holy Spirit.
4. Fruits of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit has the function of bearing witness to the Father, to the Son, to the gospel in its pure essence, bears witness to the saints of the revelations and the prophets sent by the living God.
"We believe that holy men of the past spoke when inspired by the Holy Spirit and that holy men of today speak according to the same principle; we believe that He is a comforter and a witness, bringing to our remembrance the things of the past, guiding us into all truth and showing us the things that are to come to pass; we believe that no one can say that Jesus is the Christ except by the Holy Spirit (I Cor. 12:3)."
The Holy Spirit comes to the one who receives the good news or seeks to know the truth of the mysteries of the Kingdom and bears witness in his heart, but does not remain, since the Gift of the Holy Spirit is granted to those who were baptized and are prepared to receive it through the laying on of hands by those who have authority to do so, this happens in confirmation, and can be received at the time of ordination or during his lifetime. In our days, as well as in the past, we have heard strong testimonies of sisters and brothers who, upon receiving the Sealed Book and the news about the Work of the Lord in this generation, received the immediate confirmation of the Holy Spirit, as did the centurion Cornelius of the Italian court, and also all those who heard Peter's preaching about baptism and the Work of God among the Gentiles. (Acts 10:44-45)
On the day the Church was organized, many Saints who had previously been baptized received the Gift of the Holy Ghost by the power of the Melchizedek priesthood. The Prophet Joseph Smith taught with much emphasis the necessity of both baptism and the laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost. "The baptism of water without the baptism of fire and the accompanying Holy Ghost is of no value," he stated. "They are obligatorily and inseparably united. One must be born of water and of the Spirit to enter the kingdom of God." (Teachings of the Presidents of the Church, Joseph Smith, Ch. 7 page 95) Thus, the Holy Ghost, bears witness of the Father and the Son, of all His Work, bears witness of the holy prophets is the Comforter.
The gift of the Holy Ghost, on the other hand, is given to the baptized saints who are prepared, by the laying on of hands of the holders of the Melchizedek Priesthood when they are confirmed as members of the Church of Jesus Christ. "We believe in prophecies, in the gift of tongues, in visions in revelations, in healings, in interpretations of tongues, in faith, in the gift of discerning of spirits, in the gift of wisdom and the word of knowledge, in the gift of compassion, but that these things cannot be enjoyed by the saints without the gift of the Holy Spirit." (Articles of Faith 1-7, 1 Cor 12:4-11)
The gifts of the Holy Spirit in turn; They are gifts of God to the saints, they are required to be active in every saint, for the edification of the Church, in this way the body as a whole will be healthy, the Church will be healthy. Therefore, it is prudent to conclude that each member of the Church possesses one or more gifts, and that when there is a prophet, a seer, a revelator and a translator, the same one possesses all the gifts. (Romans 12:4-8).
With the appearance of the Sealed Book in our days, that second invitation to people from all parts of the world, a knowledge that had never been understood so clearly by all branches of Christianity that exist or have passed the course of dispensations, yes, the Lord reserved a precious knowledge to be revealed in this time of the last dispensation, yes the knowledge about the good feelings, all derived from the Greatest Gift which is Love. We are also taught to separate the good feelings from the bad feelings that come from the evil one (Sealed Book of Moses Ch 5:34 and Moses 8:1) these bad feelings are also gifts from the enemy of God, which we must fight every day so that our hearts are purified and we can, little by little, improve our condition of true worshippers before heaven (Sealed Book of Moses 5:38). In the Sealed Book in Moses Chapter 3: 61 it says: You cannot perform a part of My work unless there is a spark of Me, the Lord, among you. (These sparks of God are all the gifts that come from the Greater Gift of God) Moses, Sealed Book chapter 3:61-63.
And the Fruits of the Holy Spirit, need to be seen particularly in every Latter-day Saint, yes these we need to seek to perfect in each one of them, so that we can enjoy in our hearts and at the same time externalize such fruits in the midst of the society of which we are a part, for the benefit of our families, brothers and sisters.
The Book of the Acts of the 3 Nephites, chapter 10:7 tells us the following;
"If the guidelines of our home are the teachings of Jesus Christ, then we shall live in homes where joy reigns, whose branches of our posterity will be firmly rooted in the fruits of the Holy Spirit; love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance; these being the feelings that should fill our earthly dwelling, because it is a heavenly refuge. And behold, joy is one of its fruits, and it will overflow the walls in the houses of Zion."
We live in days of great expectation by reason that the good news has been revealed to us, this in itself is cause for great joy in our hearts, thus we will be able to enjoy in full communion the best and highest good feelings, taught in their full purity in the Sealed Book, of which as the above text says, "...it shall overflow over the walls in the houses of Zion".
Having the certainty that the topics that were pointed out in this article, are much broader and can be deepened in a particular way by each one that this study reaches, it is the invitation, that we seek to expand our knowledge on the subject and at the same time, that we seek to put into practice in our lives. Amen!
From your fellow servant in Christ Jesus,
Joni Batista
